Pastoral Staff

  • Matt Mordaunt

    Lead Pastor

Since coming to CAC in 2015, I have grown to love the people of this church, and the pastors/staff that serve here.  Those who serve and gather here are warm, friendly and welcoming.  Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand how people are cared for in times of grief, loss and challenge – whether that be through challenge financially or through the challenge of a new little baby.  People laugh together here, pray together here, and serve together here.  Truly, we are fortunate to be surrounded by this amazing group!  God has moved in the hearts of the people in this place.  May it ever be so!

As the Senior Pastor, I get to work with the staff and the elders to pursue the mission of the church: “Going deeper and wider with God”.  It’s a fantastic statement.  It’s biblical, honouring to Jesus’ call, consistent with our movement’s history, and something that we actually seek to live out both locally and abroad.  These are not just words for us, they form most of what we do.

On the family front, Sharilyn and I were married in July, 2002, and since then have added four amazing people to the world!  Thomas (2004), Ella (2005), Katrina (2007), and Naomi (2008) are frankly fantastic, and we love them dearly.  Sharilyn is musical and capable in so many ways, and serves in the church in her areas of gifting and passion.  She even gets me out of the house to go hiking or to do the Promontory stairs!  Hiking is one thing, but the Promontory stairs?  I just… I don’t know… why the stairs?  Together, we have served in Alliance churches in Kelowna, Auckland (NZ), and now Chilliwack.  Truly, it’s been quite the adventure!

I’m glad that you’re looking into our church.  I’d love to meet you.

  • Greg Zacharias

    Executive Pastor | Worship

As Executive Pastor, I have the privilege of working with a great staff here at CAC in the areas of finances, human resources, leadership, and administration. As Worship Pastor, I am passionate about music and intimate worship of our God in the church community. True worship is a lifestyle and a choice we make every day as believers. It is my goal that the music at CAC continues to give glory to God in all that we do.

After graduating from Trinity Western University in 1997, I have had the privilege of heading up the music and worship at Coquitlam Alliance, Burnett Fellowship Baptist in Maple Ridge, and now for the past 10 years here in Chilliwack. I have been happily married to Jennifer since August, 1996. Together, we have raised three amazing boys...Terrell, Parker, and Riley. They are moving all too quickly into adulthood.

In my spare time I love to spend time with my family and enjoy each new stage the boys grow into. We love camping (especially in new places), canoeing, hiking, fishing, eating, sports, and sitting around the campfire!

  • Leon Throness

    Assistant Pastor – Encounter Ministries

Carol and I have been part of Chilliwack Alliance Church since 2008 after serving Alliance churches in Mississauga, Ontario; Marwayne, Alberta; and Surrey, Vancouver, and Kelowna, British Columbia. I am a grad of Canadian Bible College (now Ambrose University) and Trinity Western University.

Our three children are married and giving us adorable grandchildren.  It's a great time of life!

The Thronesses are sports fans: hockey, football, car racing... I am a hot rod buff with an old international Harvester. I've always enjoyed diecast car collecting - the thrill is in the hunt! We also love to travel, with Israel being a favourite.

  • Noel Santos

    Connections Pastor

Team Santos consist of three:  my wife, Crista and our son, Kai.  We are thrilled to join the CAC family!  Already, we feel so welcomed and at home here!

The last year or so, we have built an online business, while homeschooling our 6 year old.  Before joining the CAC team, I was with Sonrise Church as their Associate Pastor, and previous to that, I served at Peace Portal Alliance Church as their Pastor of Groups.

Crista and I were also part of a team of church planters that launched Fraser Point in Fort Langley prior to my transition into full-time ministry.

When it comes to ministry at church or in the marketplace, my heart is to develop leaders that develop leaders.  I truly believe that at the core of leadership is INFLUENCE. And whether by example or by designation, we all have influence.

When we’re not working, serving, or homeschooling, we love to travel as a family.  Whether on the road with our Jeep or off to Maui.  We’re all about finding a warm, sunny place by the water to relax, refresh and reboot.

  • Anna Carr

    Children and Family Ministries Pastor

All my life I knew I wanted to work with kids, didn’t know how it would look, but knew that kids was where God has given me a passion. I never expected it to be in this way, but God planted the seed in me in 2007 when I was attending Hillsong Bible College, and it was then I realized He was calling me into Children’s Ministry. I graduated from Columbia Bible College in 2012 in the Biblical Studies program with a minor in Children’s Ministry, and have been very much enjoying working since then as the Children’s Pastor here at CAC.

I have a very supportive husband, Dain, and we have two amazing, energetic sons, James and Jude, who keep us on our toes. We enjoy watching sports and going on family adventures.

  • Joe Pohl

    Youth & Young Adult Pastor

When I was a youth I attended the Chilliwack Alliance Youth group. I can confidently say I met Jesus at those Thursday night meetings. My hope is for exactly that; the youth today need to encounter Jesus in a real way – a way that isn’t fabricated – a way that lasts.

I met the love of my life when I was 15, and got married at 23. Her name is Jenn and you will be seeing her around ministering to the young students in our church, and in the women’s bible studies. We both love to pray, read, and go on long hikes out in our beautiful back country. Our greatest joy is to witness the work and power of the Holy Spirit in the young students around us.

We are encouraged to be part of this team and would love to grab a coffee with you!

  • Holly Duke

    PT Missions & Engagement Pastor

I believe in the church and I am thankful that I can serve the Lord in these ways; advocating and helping our people engage in missions and providing space for young adults to learn about what it means to be a disciple of Christ and their part in the church. I also work with a student mission organization called Reign Ministries. I get to haul kids around the world and journey with them as they encounter the living God in and through cross-cultural ministry. This has taken me to the United Kingdom, West Africa and China. To say I enjoy my jobs is an understatement.

I am a bit of a travel junkie. I love experiencing new things (except jumping from a perfectly good airplane). I enjoy people and sharing what I love with them (especially food). I think my parents would say I am (was) a great kid. I know God to be good and I know His hand in my life. I count it a privilege to serve alongside you in this part of the life of CAC.

  • Wayne Massey

PT Personal Engagement & Outreach Pastor

I have been part of Chilliwack Alliance since August 1994 after relocating to Chilliwack from Ontario. In 2000, I graduated from North West Bible College (part of Trinity Western University) with a Bachelor Degree in Religious Education and Pastoring.

Over the years I have served as an Adult Sunday School teacher, a member on the Board of Elders, and for the past 3 years as the Vision Director responsible for long term strategic vision planning and overseeing our Vision Tree Ministry which encompasses opportunities for people to engage in Kingdom focused projects around the globe.

  • Carol Goh

Pastor for Seniors, Community, and Spiritual Care

The Goh family includes my husband Andrew, our three teenage sons David, James, and Daniel, and my mother-in-law Ho Lai Chin. We moved into the neighbourhood (Parish) from Portland, OR in 2014.

Our church invests in the Parish through connections with those who live, work, and go to school here. We intentionally support Robertson Elementary School and other local organizations so that together, we can weave together the fabric of care for our inhabitants. Some of our programs include Afternoon Adventures, the Robertson Cookie Brigade, Soccer Camps, and scholarships for neighborhood children to attend Camp Kawkawa.

My role has recently expanded to include our vibrant seniors! I am enjoying getting to know them through our coffee socials, O.A.S.I.S. (old agers still in service) services, care groups, and the visitation and bereavement teams.
